GRETB – 3rd Annual Awards Ceremony
Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board (GRETB), in association with Bank of Ireland, held its 3rdAnnual Awards presentation in the Raheen Woods Hotel, Athenry, last Thursday 26th April, when it gave recognition to the achievements of students from the 20 Second Level GRETB schools in counties Roscommon and Galway. Roscommon School students honoured included Abbey Community College, Boyle,Elphin Community College and Roscommon Community College.
Elphin students included:
- Glenn Gilmartin, best result in the country in both Technical Graphics and Metalwork in Junior Cert examinations 2017
- Kieran Beirne: Junior Cert metalwork project among top 10 in the country
- Headspace and Banríon Chonnacht – successful Junk Kouture National Final entries
- Jake Kennedy and Jack Murphy who represented Co. Roscommon Schools in the National Student Enterprise Awards
A total of 84 Awardswere presented in eleven (11) categories including The Sciences, Arts/Culture & Music, Sporting, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Academic, and Healthy Living & Wellbeing
David Leahy, Chief Executive, says that this annual event presented an opportunity for GRETB to recognise and award excellence and achievements of GRETB students under the various categories. He said he hoped the students would gain inspiration from the public acknowledgement of their excellent achievements and hoped that such would encourage even greater things in the future. Mr. Leahy added that the Awards Ceremony is one of the annual highlights since the formation of GRETB in June, 2013.
