Anti Litter Filming
Pictured are TY students during filming of their Anti Litter short film which took place in the school on Friday 4th February. The project is organised by Roscommon County Council and the premiere of the film will take place in Roscommon Arts Centre on Tuesday 15th February. It was a crazy day with Open Day on as well. Can’t wait to see final product. Well done TY’s and Ms. Prendergast
Big Brother Big Sister Programme:
The Big Brother Big Sister Programme has been set up again in Elphin Commnity College. The programme is a mentoring programme where 1st year students are matched with Transition Year students. The matches are made based on common likes, dislikes, hobbies and interests. Students commit to meeting their Big or little brother/sister once a week. Foroige monitor the programme with Mrs. Gallagher. Students were trained and met their Big / Little on Tuesday last the 5th October.

Enterprise Awards
Anne Browne, Business Advisor from Roscommon County Enterprise Board, visited the school on Monday 20th September. She introduced the Transition Year Students to the Student Enterprise Awards Competition. This involves the students working in teams to come up with a business idea for a product or service. They must then research and develop the idea and market it. The teams will compete at school level initially with the winning team going on to represent the school at county level. Anne will visit the student again in early October to assess progress and advise the students.
Junior Cert Results

Transition Years travel to Glendalough
Transition Year students travelled to Glendalough on Monday morning as part of a fact finding trip for this term. They gathered information for a number of modules taking place in the school over the coming weeks. The trip also included a 22km hike as part of their outdoor pursuits programme for the year.

The Lip Dub video organized by the Transition year students in the school has already had over a 1700 hits on youtube and on vimeo. Check it out on the school website or search under elphin lip dub.
BIG BROTHER BIG SISTER
BIG BROTHER BIG SISTER
Another successful year of the Big Brother Big Sister programme concluded on Thursday 27th May 2010 in Elphin Community College. Certificates were presented to first year students by Noreen O’Callaghan from Foroige
Transition year students were presented with their certificates at their graduation night on Tuesday 25th May 2010.
